The amygdala is a part of your brain, the part that formed first. It’s responsible for fight, flight, hunger and sex responses. It’s without words, that part of the brain, the neocortex came later. When you’re frustrated that something isn’t working, when you want to argue, that’s the amygdala. If you can learn to sit with that frustration, to not pick a fight then you are overcoming ‘the resistance’. The resistance is what stops you doing your best work, shipping on time, and doing things that although wont kill you, like public speaking, that the amygdala says you will die from. Its there to keep you safe, the problem is, that its now the thing that will keep you in the corner, never bringing anything to the table.
